The world-famous a-ha song Take On Me has been released more than 35 years ago on October 19th 1984. In 1985 the even more famous second version of the correponding music video was made publicly available. The back then ground-breaking video made use of the so called rotoscoping technique where real-life imaging is combined with animation on a frame-by-frame basis.
By the end of 2019 this iconic video is now remastered in 4k (2160p) resolution:
To get a better understanding of the quality improvements that were realized with the remastering process the band added an additional 26 second video with side by side comparisons of the old and new material which can be found here.
With the re-release of the video a-ha is aiming to be the very first European artist to accomplish the goal of 1,000,000,000 video views on YouTube. By the time this article is published there are “only” 22M views left to reach this ambitious goal. Feel free to contribute 🙂
